Based on the 1951 classic, The Thing From Another World, this remake has helicopter pilot R. J. MacReady (Kurt Russell) joining a group of American scientists (Wilford Brimley, Richard A. Dysart) in the Antarctic as they discover a parasitic alien life form that has the power to assimilate any living being. At first, scientific curiosity takes precedence as the scientists watch a dog morph into a twisted, embryonic monster but curiosity turns to fear when they realize that the alien has infected a member of their own team. The question is - which one? It's a battle for survival against Mother Nature and The Thing. |
