Oscar-nominated animated film about a woman named Madame Souza and her grandson Champion. Madame Souza is elderly and having a hard time raising her depressed and sad grandson. One day she buys him a tricycle and as the years pass, Champion evolves into an excellent bicycle racer. After years of training Champion finally qualifies for the pinnacle bicycle race, the Tour de France. However, his racing prowess does not go unnoticed. The sinister crime boss of Belleville kidnaps Champion and two other races during the Tour de France and spirits them away. He forces them to pedal all day in his casino to power the gambling machines. Madame Souza, her flatulent dog Bruno, and the three jazz-singing Belleville triplets Violet, Blanche, and Rose come together to travel to Belleville to rescue their beloved Champion.
